The poems of Walking with my Doppelgänger were written, one for each stage, while walking the Camino Francés and the Westweg. The Camino Francés is a medieval pilgrim’s route starting in St. Jean-Pied-de-Port, France, and ending at the Cathedral of St. James in Santiago, Spain, where the apostle’s bones are believed to be enshrined. The Westweg is a north/south traverse of the BlackForest, starting in Pforzheim, Germany, and ending in Basel, Switzerland. The Westweg was founded in 1900 to encourage tourism to the region. The routes were walked consecutively with a short break between. It took 50 days to complete the approximately 700 miles.
